Fatehveer Singh is playing in the fields near his house when he fell into the well that has been left open after boring at around 4 pm on Thursday. A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Army experts, assisted by the police, civil authorities, villagers and volunteers, carried out the rescue operations.
Earlier, a team of NDRF had tried to pull out the child with the help of rope but could not succeed. Oxygen is being supplied to the child and authorities are monitoring his condition through camera, officials added.
But Now Volunteer of Dera Sacha Sauda is stuck in the borewell, around 110 feet deep, which is seven inches wide. Officials says, a parallel shaft of 36 inches in diameter is installed to bring out the child safely. So far, rescuers have dug about 90 feet by taking out soil manually by the help of Dera Sacha Sauda.
JCB machines and tractors have also been pressed into service for digging and to bring out Fatehveer safely, they added Lighting arrangements were made by villagers as the rescue operation continued late in the evening.

In a similar incident last month, rescue workers pulled out body of the four-year-old girl, who had slipped into a 440-feet deep borewell at a farm in Melana village of Jodhpur, officials said. Seema fell into the borewell at 5:30 pm on Monday and was stuck at a depth of 260-feet. The body was pulled out after a 14-hour operation and handed over to family members.
On March 22, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, who fell into a 70-foot narrow borewell in Haryana’s Hisar district, was rescued after a 48-hour operation.
